Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is used in cement- and gypsum-based systems to support water retention, consistency and workability. Tile adhesive performance also depends on the cement, fillers, polymer additives, water demand and mixing procedure. A cellulose ether grade cannot guarantee finished adhesive performance on its own.
What your technical team should compare
Consistency and application
Check mixing behavior, trowelability, wetting and slip under the agreed procedure. A higher viscosity number alone does not establish better finished-product performance.
Adhesive performance
Validate the required finished-adhesive properties using the relevant test method. If a project specifies a classification or standard, evaluate the complete adhesive against that requirement.

Compare the reference and candidate fairly
Keep the cement, fillers, additive package, water ratio, preparation and conditioning procedure consistent. Record the outcome for each sample, then adjust the formulation only through a controlled evaluation. Confirm batch acceptance limits before a larger purchase.
We do not publish a universal dosage or a universal viscosity recommendation: both must be assessed in the intended formulation. Ask for the current grade-specific TDS, SDS and available COA.
